Party Pooper

I am a big old idiot. I'm sure the rest of the preschool mommies and daddies are whispering about me and feeling sorry for my little Logan. I took him to school today in jeans and a long-sleeve t-shirt. No big deal, except it's his HALLOWEEN PARTY AND PARADE. He is the only kid in the whole building that's not dressed in a costume. Oh my word! What is wrong with me?!? That poor kid suffers from "fourth kid syndrome" so badly. His preschool teachers all have the typical 2 children, so I'm just POSITIVE they think I overproduced, because I OBVIOUSLY can't handle my life. It wouldn't be such a big deal if this were an isolated event, but that poor Logan gets the short end of the deal far too often.

What's really sad is that I started off the day determined to "under-schedule." After completing some tasks or Brynlie's teacher (correcting papers and assembling Book Orders) this morning, I contacted Bryn's teacher and let her know I will not be available to help in the school library today. I have been volunteering once a week, and really enjoy my time there. This week just feels like too much though, since I took treats to Bryn's classroom for her birthday on Tuesday, took 60 cupcakes to the school on Wednesday to get approved for the Halloween parties (there are so many food allergies, that the nurse has to inspect the store-bought desserts ahead of time), and I'm helping in both Bryn's and Lindsey's classroom Halloween parties tomorrow. Add in the time I need to spend setting up for the Ward Halloween Party tomorrow (I have to make cupcakes and cornbread and set up for the the Cupcake Walk and Trick-or-Treat bag decorating) and I think I've maxed out my ability to volunteer and serve. Tomorrow is going to be a really-fun-type-of-crazy between all the activities we have scheduled, including trick-or-treating at the stores around Kearney, since the actual Halloween is on a Sunday this year.

So, I was feeling good about my decision to de-schedule working in the school library today, but then I walked Logan into his school and we noticed all the Superheroes and Princesses. I was wondering why the parking lot was packed when I pulled up. That would be all the GOOD parents who were preparing for the parade by getting their cameras and camcorders ready.

Well, the laundry and housework is screaming at me. We are a having a small Halloween party here this weekend, so I guess I shouldn't neglect my house the way I seem to neglect my kids.

Take him out for a treat and lunch. And slow down. :)
