Best quote while in Nauvoo was from a Senior Elder, while showing Brevan how to make a rope:

Elder: Here Mom, you hold this paddle while he turns the wheel. {The paddle holds the rope tightly while it's being spun.}
Me: Is this for paddling my kids when they act up?
Elder: (in a very sarcastic voice) Oh no! We don't DO that anymore! We have "quiet time" now.
Me: So what if quiet time doesn't work?
Elder: Then you beat the @#!*% out of them like we used to. It worked every time!
