So, I got to watch my kids swim that day. And had some of those great moments when you are so insanely proud of your children that you could just burst. Lindsey was in the first heat of the day, since she was the youngest child there from all the different swim teams. When the horn blew, she got down in the water (since she doesn't know how to dive yet) and just started swimming. At the beginning of the season, everyone told me I'd be amazed at the improvement I would see in my kids abilities be the end of the season. Let me tell you, they were right! Lindsey cut an entire minute off her best time this day! She got in the water and just started swimming down the lane. She went over half-way down the 25 meter lane before briefly holding on to the rope to take a big breath. We were so proud of her! How is it possible that my 4-year-old is a better swimmer than me?
Brynlie swam in 4 events that day, and took home bronze medals in two events. She became such a quick little swimmer! Her best stroke is the freestyle, which she can swim in 29 seconds.
And Brevan . . .swimming is not his favorite thing, to say the least. But I forced him to be on the team this summer, because I wanted him to be involved in a physical activity. I may have been the most proud of him, because he rarely complained, even when the other boys his age made fun of him and were angry that he slowed down their relay time. From his involvement on the swim team this season, he learned that he can do anything (and truly improve) with hard work.
The day of the conference was so, so, so, SO, SOOO hot and humid. I honestly considered making a fool out of myself by jumping in the pool fully clothed amid the hundreds of swimmers. Instead I just got rather grumpy during the last hour of the meet, and spent the last half-hour in the van with Logan, who was not a fan of the heat, either.
