Brynlie chose to do her Beyond Basics research project on England this year. She loves to study different countries and cultures, so the past two years she chose Mexico and Paris. It always amazes me that she stretches herself by picking a more difficult topic, because many of the kids choose topics like Taylor Swift or NFL teams. Maybe Bryn will be a world-traveler some day and take her parents to all these wonderful lands she learns about!
Along with many other projects, Bryn wanted to attend the temporary "Princess Diana" exhibit in Kansas City. It was hard to find a time when we could attend the exhibit together without dragging along the other kids, but I am so glad we decided to go. Although the exhibit was quite expensive, it was very interesting, and I even got teary-eyed a few times! We learned so much about Diana, her lifetime goals, the Spencer family, England royalty, and even got to examine about 100 different outfits Diana wore to special events in her lifetime. Her wedding dress and the brides-maid dresses were also on display, along with videos and pictures from the wedding day. It was so interesting to see the transformation of the shy 19-year-old marrying into the royal family to the 36-year-old who had a mind of her own and wasn't going to live by the silly fashion and etiquette rules. We were not allowed to take pictures inside the exhibit, so I took some of Bryn by the advertisements.
Brynlie got to impress us with her knowledge of England at the Beyond Basics "Evening of the Experts" last week. She was so excited to present her projects and report. I'm so proud of this little smarty-pants. By the way, she wore her brand-new Easter dress for the special event, so she would look extra intelligent! Some of her best friends attended the event to support her: Megan, Jillian and Madelyn.

Wow, she looks like a little model standing next to the advertisement! She sounds like such a sweet, smart little lady. It makes me smile to read this post! :)
