Since I want to wait up for my sweety to get home, I thought I'd try one of these lists of "things about me." I have many friends that have written 100 things about themselves! I'm not sure I'm that interesting, but I'll see how far I can get.
1. Being a Mom is the hardest and best thing I've ever done. I wasn't sure I'd like it, because kids terrified me until I had my own. Since the MOMENT Brevan was born, I have had this desire to do everything for my kids. It's amazing how the guilt of not being a perfect mom seriously kicked in the moment he came out of me.
2. I absolutely love music. I could never go a day without it. I like such random kinds of music, but this week some of my favorites are Taylor Swift, "Unbeautiful" by Lesley Roy and the new Kelly Clarkson song.
3. I love to turn up dance music REALLY loud and dance with my kids all over the house. When they hear the music start they all run into the room (well, OK, Brevan thinks we're pretty lame and doesn't participate much anymore) and start showing their moves. You should see Logan shake his tiny booty. Cutest thing ever.
4. I have the best sisters anyone could ever hope for. They have different personalities, so the combination of the two of them completes me! I could turn to them for anything.
5. My friend, Brenda, is the greatest tender mercy I've received in a long time. She's been there with me through the good and bad. She's seen me cry many times, but usually makes me laugh! She has the greatest laugh in the world!
6. I wasn't ready to get married when I got engaged at 19. It was the first time in my life that I really felt a strong impression from Heavenly Father that it was what I was supposed to do. I was scared, but followed the feeling. I was very in love with him, but just felt like I hadn't experienced much of life yet. What do you know . . .Heavenly Father knew exactly what I needed.
7. I was a very immature teenager. I regret many things I did and didn't do. I wasted much of those years just seeking the fun in life and have felt like I've spent my whole adult life "playing catch-up" spiritually, academically, emotionally, etc. But hey, I sure did have fun.
8. There have been 3 times in my life where the Spirit literally yelled at me (I guess I'm not a great listener the first time around). First, when I was prompted to marry Ryan and stop stringing him along. Second, when I walked into this house in Kearney Missouri after looking at 25 houses in 2 days. It was the last one we looked at and I immediately knew that we were supposed to buy it NOW. I've spent the past 3 years wondering why because there are many things I don't like about the house. Third, when I drove past Liberty Hospital for the first time and was told that I would have another baby and deliver it at that hospital. I was considering being done with child-producing, so this was a bit of shock for me. When I got pregnant with Logan I knew right away that he would be a boy and that I needed to find a doctor that delivered at Liberty Hospital.
9. I have struggled with acne since I was a teenager. I always have to take meds to help my face stay clear. I hate it.
10. I can't stand sweat. Honestly, I'm terrified of it. I don't mind working out, but I hate sweating. Seeing sweat on other people makes me want to throw up.
11. I have bitten my fingernails as long as I can remember. I sucked my thumb until I was 5 and then just started biting my nails instead. I've tried to quit about 100 times.
12. I have dealt with actual depression at times in my life. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's real and it's no fun. I much prefer feeling happy :).
13. I don't know how anyone would function in life without the gospel. I honestly think I would have been admitted to a psych ward by now. It is sometimes the only thing that keeps me going.
14. My brother, Scott, was my best friend growing up. I told him everything, and he would wait up for me to get home from dates so he could talk to me and see how it went. When I wasn't being a very good girl, he was always there to lecture me. As any good big brother should.
15. I'm not the greatest housekeeper. I wish I could develop some OCD. My house is generally picked up, but never really clean all at the same time. Luckily, I married a man who has the same level of cleanliness that I do. I'd go crazy with a husband who wanted a perfect looking house when he got home from work.
16. I hate to swim. It's not the swimming that bothers me, it's the cold water. Give me a hot tub anyday, because it needs to be pretty darn hot outside for me to jump in a pool. I'm getting better at this though, because my kids love to swim and beg me to swim with them.
17. I drink a ton of milk and not nearly enough water. Nothing quenches my thirst like a big glass of nonfat milk.
18. I can't go a day without chocolate. If there's no candy or treats around, I'll scrounge through the food storage until I find a bag of chocolate chips.
19. I played the piano for 6 years and wish I still played well. I plan on starting lessons again sometime in the future.
20. I still think I want to go back to nursing school when my kids are a little older. But I go back and forth between that and being a teacher. I would really love to have my summers off with my kids. For some reason I feel like a loser when I say that I'd like to be a teacher. Why is that?
21. I really like to cook for my family (well, at least for Ryan. He doesn't complain the way the kids do) but I hate cleaning up the mess it makes.
22. I love to shop for bargains. There's something so therapeutic about shopping at Target, TJMaxx or Kohl's for good deals. But I can't have any of my children with me or it feels more like a chore. Every once in a while I'll call Ryan at work and tell him that I need him home on time because I'm going to spend the evening doing some "retail therapy." Retail therapy nights also need good tunes. I turn the music up in the car as loud as I can stand it and scream along to the songs.
23. Green peppers, squash, zuccini and many other healthy things make me gag to even think about them. I wish I liked more veggies.
24. I love to eat breakfast for dinner. Yum. Waffles, pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.
25. I can hear Ryan's car pulling into the garage so I guess this is where I'll end for tonight. Actually, I can only hear his music blasting so loudly in his car that the neighbors might call the police on us. Gotta love that man of mine. We both LOVE our tunes.
