Smiley guy

Click http://www.only-young-once.com/ to see the recent pictures I had taken of Logan. Then click on "enter same window," and then "client proofs" in the top right corner. The password (in the bottom right corner) is logan_1. It was definitely not one of his better photo shoots. He was quite ornery and wanted to knock over the big lights more than he wanted to smile at a silly photographer. I even had to get in on some of the pictures so that he would sit still. I had not been planning on being in a photo shoot that day, so I wasn't exactly looking glamorous. Whatever works, right?

Some of my favorite things about Logan at age one:

* His favorite toy is the blow dryer. He has LOVED it since he was small. He will scream to have us turn it on, and then he'll lay down by it for as long as 10 minutes.
* He shakes his head back and forth vigorously any time he hears a loud noise, such as blender, lawn mower or mixer. We're not sure why he does it, but it cracks us up everytime.
* He loves to drop things so we'll say "uh-oh." He's only gotten the "uh" part down so far.
* He is by far our most aggressive child so far. It's amazing how that's so annoying in other people's kids, but somehow we find it funny every time he smacks us.
* Cars, trucks and trains are fascinating to him. He even does the "vroom" sound while pushing them along the floor. Yesterday he examined the stud finder and decided it was a car. He pushed it all over the house for the rest of the night.
* The way he doesn't even change his facial expression every time we put a veggie in his mouth and he spits it out. It's as if he's saying, "Go ahead and try that again. I can spit this stuff out all day long."
* He is such a cuddler when he's going to sleep. I get so excited for his naptime because it means I get to hold him while he drifts off (and for the obvious reason that it's the only time I can really get anything done).
* Watching him wave "bye-bye" to his Daddy in the morning is one of the cutest things I've ever seen.
* When he rolls over in the night while his eyes are still closed and searches for me with his hands. Then he puts his arms around my neck and touches his nose to mine while he falls back asleep.
* The fact that I can tell this story to any potential girlfriends in the future: "When Logan was almost one, he thought pooped-in diapers were a wonderful mystery that needed to be discovered. I would almost always get the diapers put in the trash can immediately so as not to allow him to discover them. However, on one busy day I threw the wrapped up diaper into the hallway, figuring that I would throw it away in just a few moments when I headed down the stairs. As I finished cleaning my bathroom, I realized that Logan had been silent for a little too long. Upon finding him in the hall, his hands were covered in poop and he even had POOP ON ALL THE CORNERS OF HIS MOUTH! Yes, potential girlfriend, you can go on a date with my son, but if you feel the urge to kiss him, just remember that this is the boy who eats his own poop."
* He is an AWESOME dancer already! He has always loved to listen to music, and the faster the beat, the better. He shakes his head, does the wave with his arms and gets his feet groovin'.

Some of Ryan's favorite things about Logan at age one:

* His big, pretty blue eyes.
* His fat little hands.
* How he always gives big, sloppy kisses (by the way, he has done this since he was very small. There were times when my friends would mention that I should be worried about him when he's a teenager because he really seems to like getting some "action!")
* His love of balls, or anything else he can throw.
* How he burps loudly every time he finishes a bottle.
* How he loves to listen to rock music with me.
* The way he loves to cuddle with me so much.
* His funny, boyish giggle (SO very different from the girly giggle we've heard for the past many years!)

Well, for being a little grumpy, he sure is so so so cute in those pictures! What a fun photo shoot. It was so fun to read more about him. He sounds like such an active and fun little guy. I love it so much when they dance all around and my favorite favorite is when my kids wave goodbye to their daddy in the morning. What a sweetie!

And I know I'm behind on commenting (although I've keep up on your blogs! I love to see what you're doing!) but I truly needed so many of your blogs. Little did you know that Jason has been trying for 8+ years to get me out of Utah and lately it has been on my mind a lot. Not that we would be moving anytime soon, but I think I'm trying to get myself preped for when we will eventually. I really wouldn't mind living somewhere else, but I am so so attached to my family, which is a good and bad thing I guess. Anyway, I loved your post, and I especially loved that hardware store sign! That is absolutely hilarious!!!

You're happiness blog was also very inspiring to me. I've attributed my long term 17 month apathy and very conscious efforts in order to be playful and happy to sleep deprivation, but maybe it is something more. I don't know. But it got me thinking.

You look and sound amazing and I am so glad to "get to know you" again. What an adorable family you have!
