What a fun (and exhausting) day!! We had 19 little girls at our Back to School Party today. It lasted from 2 - 4, but some stragglers were still hanging around at 5:00, which was fine with me because I was collapsed on the couch and my kids were still entertained by friends. One of my very good friends, Brenda, stayed for the party to help me maintain the chaos . . .thank you Brenda! We had so much fun that I've decided to make this an annual event on the weekend before school starts. Our schedule of activities:
2:00 - 2:30 Decorate pencil boxes with letter stickers (for their name) and puffy stickers.
2:30 - 2:50 Scavenger hunt for school supplies. In the girls room they each had to find a hidden box of crayons, in Brevan's room they each had to find a namecard that had their name, and in Logan's room they searched for a notebook that had their name. It was pure chaos, but the highlight of the party!
2:50 - 3:00 "Sack snack" of a juicebox, granola bar and fruit snacks.
3:00 - 3:30 P.E. games outside (the weather was perfect!). First was Red Rover, and then Duck Duck Goose.
3:30 - 3:45 Make Fruit Loop Necklaces.
3:45 - 4:00 Play until the parents came.
It all went well, with a few exceptions: one girl who had a tummyache, another girl who got slightly injured trying to bulldoze her way through some strong Red Rover arms, and a very sad baby boy (poor Logan) who was completely forgotten and left inside for much of P.E. time because his Mommy (that would be me) was slightly busy dealing with some loud and excited little girls. I suddenly realized that I didn't know where he was, and I wasn't even sure where I'd seen him last. I found him SCREAMING in my bathroom . . .he had climbed up the stairs and gone through the whole upstairs looking for me. I felt so horrible!
I was (obviously) very busy during the party, so didn't get too many pictures, but here's a few.
This is Awesome Brenda, helping with Duck Duck Goose.

I never did manage to get a picture of the whole group, but here are some of the girls making their necklaces. (Just for my future referrence, there's Charlotte, Aeva, Ayralyn, Megan, Ellye, Brooke, Lexi, Chloe (or Jorjia, maybe? I can only see the top of her head!), Dani, Cate (barely peeking up at me!), Brenda, Brynlie, Lydia, Ayriana, Lindsey (with her eyes closed :)) and Kennedy.

I'm so glad that Brenda remembered all the rules to Red Rover! Yahhhh, if she hadn't been there, I would have sounded like this: "Uh . . .you know . . .haven't any of you played this before? . . .just run through the other teams arms and . . .uh . . .try not to get too hurt."

More Red Rover - that's Brynlie running to break through.

And cute little Brooke in full school mode with her backpack on.

Funny Cate charging the other group.

Sweet little Aeva - she's not exactly a powerhouse, but she certainly packs some punch!

I can't wait to do this again next year! Maybe Brevan won't think it's silly and he'll want to join the fun and games with some of his friends. Thanks so much to all my fun students for a fun day of class! Love, Mrs. Ali

Ali, that is awesome. What a great time, and a great idea! I am sure the kids loved it. I am certain the parent probably really appriciated it. Leave it to you to come up with such a fun creative idea!
That is a great idea Ali. Those games sounds so fun. I know my boys would love doing something like that. Maybe I'll have to plan one. We still have two weeks until school starts.
Amazing! The idea...the undertaking...you! Amazing! Sounds like a total blast.
