We've had a couple funny moments lately . . .involving talking about beer, of all things.
(After I had just given Brevan a bottle of Crystal Light)
Brynlie: "Mom! That's not fair! I want some Bud Light, too!"
And the other one happened last night while Brevan and I were playing "Scattergories" together. We each had to secretly come up with an "after-school hangout" that starts with the letter B. Brevan ended up putting "bars," and the even funnier thing is that I had put "bars" also because I couldn't quickly think of anything else (don't ask me why bedroom or backyard didn't come to mind)! We laughed hysterically about that for a while and I made him promise that he will never actually hang out at bars after school!
Man, you'd think we were a family of alcoholics over here. :)
Now, on a completely different note, the kids have said some interesting things lately relating to the gospel, so I thought I'd record them also. I love having this blog because it has released all my guilt about never getting around to scrapbooking or writing in a journal anymore. I figure even if no one reads this, I can have it printed into a book and keep it as a record.
Brevan went to Science Camp this whole past week. He said that one day the group was talking about planets and aliens. He told them that he believes there are humans, not aliens, on other planets. He said everyone looked at him funny, but that he knows that there are other worlds out there. Another day when I was driving him to Camp, he asked me if Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother have parents. I told him that they do, and this started a half-hour long talk about the nature of God and our knowledge of him.
Brynlie told me today that she's been talking to her friends about being modest. She then said that she knows she's supposed to be modest, but she doesn't understand why. I tried to tell her in the best way I could to a perceptive 6-year-old, and even looked up the "Strength for the Youth" pamphlet online and read the part about dress and appearance to her. She seemed satisfied for now. She also told me the other day that she and Lindsey were playing with their friend, Kennedy. Lindsey told Kennedy that we are all sisters in real life. Kennedy looked confused and said that she wasn't their sister. Brynlie explained to her that we go to church on Sunday and learn about how we are really all sisters and brothers.
Then Lindsey was driving in the car with me about a couple months ago, and she was deep in thought while staring out the window (you know when Lindsey is deep in thought, because it's the ONLY time she isn't talking!). Then she asked me, "How does Heavenly Father make everything if he doesn't have a magic wand?" I busted up, but she was very serious, so I told her that he just uses his hands, and she got very excited and said, "Oh! I didn't know he had magic hands!" I told her that he uses the priesthood power and she said, "Oh, wow!" I just love talking to 3-year-olds!

I had to laugh the bud light comment. That really is funny!
Isn't is amazing the level of understanding our children have of the gospel principles at such an early age? I am constantly in awe.
Lastly, There IS a program out there where you can convert your blog entries into a book style for journaling. If you are interested, let me know! =)
