Brevan had his Evening of the Experts last week, and I have to brag a bit. He chose to do his huge project on game programming, and has been working hard for the past many months. Although Ryan and I both knew that the games he has created are pretty neat, we had no idea how impressive it was to the other kids. It was so much fun to have kids crowd around Brevan all night and be amazed at his inventions. Finally, my boy is getting recognized for some of his many talents! The games he has created are so detailed, and he is earning money to buy the program that can turn his games into apps. Then he plans to sell the apps to other students.
My Lindsey is so animated and funny!
These are some of the pictures Lindsey drew while watching General Conference.
Last Thursday was one of "those mornings." I woke up bright and happy, ready to tackle the day. Brevan argued with every little thing I said, and then got annoyed when I dropped him off at school and asked him to please go in the bathroom and fix his shirt, which was on backward. He did not want advice from his old-fashioned mom, even though I was trying to prevent him from being a laughing stock. I got back home and helped the girls get ready and accidentally spilled milk all over Lindsey. She was not amused and told me I ruined her day because she had been wearing her favorite outfit. Then Brynlie started getting all worked up about something or other. I kept trying to hurry them along so they didn't miss the bus. Brynlie kept getting more and more upset. By the time I saw the bus and we had finished our prayer (ironic), Brynlie was behind schedule and started screaming at me. After giving me a kiss goodbye (ironic again), she screamed in my face, "I HATE my life!!" and ran out the door. Whew. Then it was time to get Logan ready for preschool. While I was brushing his teeth, he kept screaming and started kicking me. So I put him down (with toothpaste still in his mouth) and left the room. That really ticked him off because he doesn't know how to rinse his mouth by himself. He ran into the family room and started throwing anything in sight. I picked him up and put him in time-out. He hit the wall, screamed at me and tried to run away. I put his little nose on the wall and gave his bum a smack. He got more mad. Finally Ryan got out of the shower and came in to see what all the commotion was about. I started crying harder than Logan, so Ryan took over. After getting the boys out the door (Ryan always takes Logan to preschool on his way to work), I had a million things to do. Instead, I sat on the couch and read a book. And then after picking up Logan from school, I read some more. Until I finished the whole book and felt like I could tackle life again. When Brevan got home that day, Logan sweetly asked him if he would help him with something in the other room. They were secretly working together for about an hour before Logan came and presented this note to me. He told Brevan exactly what he wanted it to say, and then had Brevan tell him the letters to write. What a sweet little guy! I forgave him very quickly and hung the note on my wall so I could smile every time I walked by.
Translation of the note: "I'm sorry I was mean today when I was brushing my teeth on accident. I love you. Love, Logan
And another note he gave me this week. The arrow is his way of saying "you."
Most of the drawings Brynlie did while watching Conference were lost, but I found this one in a pile of school papers.
