Halloween 2010

What a fun time of year! I love seeing the excitement in my kid's faces when the fall and winter holidays start. This year I helped out in both Brynlie and Lindsey's class parties. Not something I really have the time to do, but something that's worth the time and effort. They were so excited to have me there and introduce me to all their friends. Ryan had spent the entire day before at the school, because he volunteered to be the "WatchDad" for the day. It's a program that gets dad's more involved in their children's lives and education. He helped wherever needed throughout the day, including loading and unloading children from the buses, making copies, reading to the Kindergarteners, helping the teachers correct papers, being "on guard" in the hallways in case of any problems, and serving lunch in the cafeteria. What an awesome Daddy!

Lindsey wore the witch costume that Brynlie wore last year. She didn't want to wear any facepaint, including the black lipstick I had bought. She didn't even want to wear the striped tights or carry the broom at school! She looked perfect all on her own as the pretties witch around.
Logan got to participate in all the activities in the Kindergarten classroom. It {kind of} makes up for the fact that I messed up his preschool Halloween party!
Two of Lindsey's best friends . . .Shanna the Bumblebee . . .
. . .and Carly the dinosaur. Cuties.
Brynlie was a sparkly cowgirl. She wore part of the costume from her last dance recital, but I bought striped tights, cowboy boots and a hat.

Lindsey thought this toilet-paper mummy game was hilarious! I love to see that big smile on this girl's face!

My LoganRoyBoy was a Denver Bronco's football player. And boy was he HANDSOME.
After the school party, I took my kids, Megan and Sophie trick-or-treating at the stores in downtown Kearney. There were so many people there and the weather was perfect. Brevan is missing because I was a mean mama this year and didn't allow him to trick-or-treat. I figure once a kid is in Middle School and has enough money to buy any candy they want, they are too old to beg for candy from adults on Halloween. Plus, we have a rule in our house that all the candy my kids get goes in one big bucket and we share it. That way Brevan got to eat as much candy as everyone else (plus they can't tell how much candy their mom eats while they aren't looking!).

Showing me how fast he can run and tackle the other football guys! Check out that determination on his face!

That evening, we had a huge Ward Halloween Party. I was in charge of many of the games, by default since I'm Primary President. The kids had a blast, and got tons of candy at the trunk-or-treat afterward. On the way to the church for the party, Logan asked if he could ride his bike all the way to the church. You have to know that we live at least 10 miles away from the church. He "raced" Ryan, who was driving the rest of the us in the van. Logan made it almost a mile before we forced him to get in the van with us! What a funny boy!
I'm glad the kids has so much fun in the Friday activities, because Halloween was on a Sunday this year. We decided not to allow the kids to go trick-or-treating on Sunday, when all the other kids went. Instead, we had the Simmons, Napiers and missionaries over to eat dinner and spend the evening chatting. We did pass out candy to all the cute trick-or-treaters and met quite a few of our new neighbors. Happy Halloween!

Girl, if you live 10 miles from church, that must mean I live at least 30 miles away. (Google Maps says you live 6 miles away!) ;)
