Confessions and such

  • I am a closet Eminem fan. I have been since like . . .1999, when he was known as Slim Shady. I'm not too proud of this fact, and I only listen to his "edited" songs, but still . . .maybe I should attend an EA (Eminem addicts) group. I may have a slight weakness for the fast beats in some R&B, hiphop and even a little (ouch, this is embarrassing) . . .rap music. There. I've confessed my sin.
  • I am fascinated with the new show on TV called "Sister Wives." It's about a polygamy family that lives in Lehi, Utah. It makes me angry that they call themselves "Mormons," which they most definitely are not, but it's kind of interesting that they are putting a new face on polygamous wives and their children. Ryan hates the show, because he says it further confuses people as to what Mormons really believe. I guess that's true, but it doesn't bother me because I'm happy to discuss my religion with anyone and correct any misconceptions. Members of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (usually called Mormons) don't believe in polygamy, and if a member was found participating in polygamy, they would be ex-communicated. I can't IMAGINE having to share my husband with other women, but it really seems to work for these women on the show, so power to them.
  • I am having so much fun doing Christmas shopping! It's almost an obsession lately. I love the planning, budgeting and buying of the season! I have some great gifts planned this year, and can't wait to give them away!
  • The Executive Secretary in our ward came up to me on Sunday and said, "You are coming up on your two year anniversary as Primary President, right? Ya, you won't make it to the anniversary. Don't worry, there's a little something in mind for you." The comment was very bitter-sweet. I haven't let myself think much about it yet because I'm: a) excited and b) sad.

1. I like Eminem too. I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I am fascinated with his lyrics. I listen to the edited versions too.
2. I haven't seen the show yet, but I've heard a lot about it and I hear it's been signed on for another season so I think I'll check it out.
3. Good for you on your Christmas shopping!!
4. I read this last night and didn't have time to reply until this morning. I'm very concerned and sad that the ES told you about your release. Those kinds of information should be given by inspiration at the proper time. These things are supposed to be done through the witness of the Spirit. I don't like that you are having to think with one foot in and one foot out the door now. It is exciting and yet sad. Now what happens if it takes several months? I just think it needs to be done through the proper authority.
But you have a good attitude about it and that's great!
