Birthday fun
I'm officially in my mid-thirties now. My birthday was last Thursday, and I was excited that it was Book Club night at Meredith's house. She made some yummy food for us and put up birthday decorations just for me. I have such sweet friends! We had a great time talking about the book and hanging out. I had some of the group get in this picture, but Heather, Melinda and Aimee had already taken off. Pictured are Pam, Meredith, Barbara, me, Xio, Shelly, Brenda and Claire.
Ryan and I went to a movie over the weekend, and when we were driving home the kids called and said they had an awesome surprise for us. When we pulled in the driveway, Brynlie ran out and blindfolded us, then walked us into a completely dark house, where there was soft music playing and a fire going in the fireplace. They had hung up balloons, and made a "cake." The cake had originally started off as cookies, but when they realized we were out of eggs, they added water instead and baked them in the oven. That obviously didn't work well, so they put all the "cookies" in a bowl and added sprinkles, red food coloring, whip cream, chocolate chips and jam. After putting the candles on top, my "cake" was complete. Since they knew the cake might taste a bit funny, they put brown "barf bags" at everyone's place at the table. Funny kids! It took me a couple hours to get the kitchen clean again, because they had made a monumental mess. Brevan took this picture of me with my "cake." On the left, you can see the beautiful roses Ryan got me on my birthday.
