Our weekend

So, it happened. My husband is officially neutered. The big event took place on Friday afternoon after he took a whole Valium. He is still not walking right and keeps his pain meds handy, but he said the whole experience was actually easier than he thought it would be. Here's the really cool part . . .while he was on the table, I was acting rather interested and leaning over the doctor's shoulder. The Dr. asked me if I was a nurse and I replied that I was not, but would love to go to nursing school someday. I jokingly said to him, "If I slip you a $20, would you let me do the snipping?" and he answered, "Sure! Go scrub up and grab some gloves." I actually got to perform the procedure on Ryan! Afterward I thought of many things I should have done, such as yelled, "Oops! Is that supposed to happen?" as soon as I finished, just to really freak out my husband. Instead, I was just fascinated by the whole thing as Ryan shook his head back and forth in shock that the Dr. and I were having such a normal discussion the whole time. The Dr. even asked about the church after we said that we were originally from Utah. Anyway, I have a lot more I could say about that, but I'll just leave it up to your imagination so as to not offend any small readers!

I forgot to mention last week that I was sustained as Brynlie's CTR 7 teacher, along with being the cub scout den leader. The two callings (along with all the help I gave this week getting ready for our Super Saturday) have been keeping me plenty busy.

I've been on a reading kick lately, which means my house is a wreck. I don't know how to read just a little bit. It's all or nothing. I don't care if my kids eat cereal all day long and run around in their jammies until lunchtime when I'm absorbed in a good book. Today's book was "The Last Lecture." It was a good, quick read that gave me some insights on life.

A couple weeks ago was parent-teacher conferences and I have to brag about my two oldest. They both got RAVE reviews from their teachers. Brynlie's teacher couldn't stop talking about how much she loves her. Brevan got all A's (and one A- in spelling, which is weird because he always gets 100% on his tests) and got "Independent worker" on all his behavioral skills. I was just the proudest mama! We went to Sonic to celebrate.

Ryan and I have been doing some hard workouts together for a while now, and I'm finally seeing some of the results. Yeah!! I'm always very sore, but it feels so good to be toning those not-so-great areas a bit. I'm not a good runner (bladder issues, along with the fact that I get bored) so we've been doing a cardio routine/toning session for an hour in the mornings. It's actually been really fun to work out together.

Brynlie lost her second tooth this weekend. She's looking so darn cute. I'm just desperately hoping she looses her top two teeth in the next month so I can sing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" to her.

And finally, I was able to receive a wonderful priesthood blessing this weekend. I won't share the details of the blessing, but I felt as if my Heavenly Father was standing over me, blessing me himself. It was amazing. I have a renewed gratitude for the priesthood, my family and my awesome friends.

I'm glad you were able to finish "The Last Lecture" book already. I was so inspired by it -- it is no wonder he felt so strongly about doing the lecture.

Thank you also so very much for your help this weekend -- I couldn't have done it without you!

I love reading your blog & getting the updates! :) Totall funny about Ryan's proceedure - Derek did that 2 months ago and we are SOOO glad and relieved. I'll have to check out that book - I just finished my book - The Story of Edgar Sawtelle (pretty good!).

You are so lucky to finally be absolutely done with having kids. I'm not sure if I could talk Jon into the snip. Good for Ryan. I would love that feeling of never needing the pill again.

I've heard such good things about the Last Lecture. I actually have it checked out from the library right now but haven't gotten to it yet.

super saturday?? That sounds so fun! We don't do those in our stake or ward. Congrats on your new calling(s)! Crazy busy. I'm glad you received a blessing of comfort this week.
I'm still a little dizzy from hearing you got to perform the snip! Could be cause I would love for my husband to do that. I think he doesn't want to do it so he can have kids with his next wife! ;)

You know you have been in my thoughts. I had a great laugh at the story of YOU doing the snip. That is one for the journal for sure!

You inspire me. =)
