Political Thoughts
I don't consider myself a highly political person, but the older I get the more I appreciate the opportunity I have to research the issues and vote for the candidates that most fit my values. I would definitely consider myself more of a Republican, but I vote for the candidate I think will do the best job, so at times that has been a Democrat. With the presidential elections coming up soon, I have been reading and watching the coverage with interest for the past year or so. I've been torn on who to vote for, because I've agreed with some of Obama's ideas and some of McCain's ideas. (Although at times I wonder if I'm being swayed by the eloquent speeches that Obama gives. I'm not sure I can handle another president who sounds as unintelligent as Bush does in some of his speeches). Anyway, I've watched/read about the National Conventions this week and these are my feelings: I am very impressed with Palin so far! Is that because she's a woman? Because she's a dedicated Mom and wife? Because she's handling herself well in the media when they attack her personal family issues? Because I think she'll be a strong advocate for special needs children because she has one of her own? Because I think that a man/woman team is perfect to run our country? There were some things the Republicans talked about in their speeches last night that I agreed with, and some that I didn't (I won't bore you with all that, but I'm not set on all the ideas about the war and taxes. I do think we should start using our own oil resources instead of relying on foreign oil and gas). But so far, I'm wishing SHE was running for president. Hmmmm . . .still a while to go before I make my decision, but I'm enjoying the process this time.

Here's a thought: McCain is 72 years old. Isn't that around the life expectancy of men? So if he wins, and dies in office, then Palin can be president!! She's my favorite so far; Obama just scares me.
I have enjoyed watching everything too. I really like Palin. She seems so approachable. Like if you saw her on the street she would stop and talk to you no matter who you are. Obama makes me nervous. I just can't agree with a lot of stuff he stands for. Politics are interesting. I don't know that I would ever like to be in that scene. BTW love the yearbook pics!
I think she is a great fit with McCain. I don't trust Obama, he makes me nervous.
i liked Palin too. But i am not crazy about mccain or obama. i was planning on voting independant but sarah palin may have changed my mind! we will see~!
I really love Palin. She is so great-- head-strong and straight forward. She just seems like she's got it all together. I think she'll help sway those who were on the fence before.
Thanks for letting me tag along with the play-group today. I still feel way out of place with all of you experienced moms, but I love being around all of you cause you're just great and I learn so much from you.
