Today the kids got out of school at 11:30 because it's Homecoming day. There's a parade, tailgate party and football game all happening today. I have to say that it still makes me laugh that they let the kids out of school so we can have more "school spirit." Hmmm, doesn't make much sense to me, but at least I get to spend a fun afternoon with my kids. It's been a busy week. A few details are: the three oldest kids had parts in the Primary Program last week. Lindsey's part was the cutest - she had to say "My name is Lindsey. I am a child of God and he knows me." Brevan sang a solo to Tell Me the Stories of Jesus, and in a quartet to Jesus Christ was Baptized. I had a dentist appt. where I was informed that I get to undergo another post and crown this next week (sigh). I helped run a succesful Pack Meeting, where Brevan earned his Bear Award (yeah!!) and all the other boys also received awards. I found out that Logan is developing normally so far, despite my constant concerns that he will have issues like many of the other boys on my side of the family. And I've been getting ready for my girls to be in a parade with their dance teams tomorrow. Instead of boring you with all the details of those happenings, I thought I'd do another survey that my friend sent me. I love surveys, if you can't tell yet. I guess I'm not creative enough to know what to write, so it gives me prompts!
1) Name something you have in common with all of your siblings? Independent, hardworking, financially responsible, active in church, terribly good looking? :)
2) Do you fold your underwear? Yes
3) Do you like to drink the juice out of freeze pops? Yes, I love when my kids don't finish theirs.
4) Who is the last person you wrote a letter to on paper? My Grandma Palmer. A thank-you note for Lindsey's birthday present.
5) What was your first job? TJMaxx sales clerk when I was 16.
6) Aside from Driver's Ed, who really taught you how to drive? My brother, Scott.
7) What's the one thing you miss about your Grandma's cooking? I miss my Grandma Springer's chocolate chip cookies. I have the recipe, but I can't make them taste the same.
8) What color is your favorite hoodie? Oh gosh, those who know me well should know how tough this will be for me. Hoodies are God's little gift to me every fall. Let's see, I love my brown one, but also my black Missouri one, and I just bought a cute pink one from Target and a green one from Aeropostale. Yeah, I have serious hoodie addiction.
9) Who was like your second Mom? As a kid, some of my friend's parents, especially Jami Chandler's mom and Tera Taylor's mom. Now I have some wonderful ladies I consider my "surrogate moms," since mine is far away.
10) Name a sound that bugs you: Brevan picking at his nails. I realize that I pick at mine also, which is exactly why it bugs me when he does it. I tell him he'll live to regret getting in the habit.
11) What's your typical ice cream order at Dairy Queen? Most definitely an Oreo Blizzard.
12) What comes to mind when I say cabbage? The time when I was newly married and decided I'd make a nice salad for dinner. I had no idea how to cook and the produce section of the store was a foreign land to me. I accidentally bought cabbage instead of lettuce and made a very funny-looking and funny-tasting salad for my new love. He kindly clued me in to my mistake. Sadly, he was often cluing me in to the mistakes I made in the kitchen. Many of my readers know some of those other stories.
13) What did you do yesterday? I left at 6 am to drive to St. Louis with some good friends and attend the temple. Ryan was sweet enough to take the day off work and play Mom. He had to get the older kids to school on time, take Lindsey on an apple-picking field trip with her preschool at 9:00 (with Logan in tow, who was terrifed of the tractors and screamed the whole time), grocery shop, clean the house, take Brynlie to computer club, take Brevan to karate, make sure everyone got their homework done and feed them at all the proper times. He even did the laundry. Anyway, my friends and I drove the 4 hours to St. Louis, did two back-to-back sessions, ate at a nice restaurant and drove another 4 hours, getting us back home about 9:30. We had some awesome talks while driving, and I'm so grateful I was able to go.
14) What did you do last night? After getting home, I spent about 5 minutes kissing my Logan baby, checked my email (and found out that a former neighbor in Lehi who was in his 30's had passed away the previous night from heart problems. His wife is pregnant with their 3rd child. ) and headed to bed. Note to self: remember to thank your husband more thorougly for everything he did yesterday. I was so exhausted when I got home and don't think I was very appreciative!
15) Do you have a cell-phone? Yes, but I leave it in my car and think that it's purpose is for me to call other people, not for other people to be able to get ahold of me.
16) Are you emotional? I have my moments.
17) Have you ever had the same dream more than once? I remember being in kindergarten and having a recurring dream about the alphabet letters flying through space all peaceful, and then they would hit a pile of junk and I'd get all stressed out because they were shaking and getting bumped. But all was well when they were once again flying through space moments later. Seriously, I think I had this dream almost every night. I must have real issues.
18) Name a song that makes you happy. Just one? My favorite workout song right now is Forever by Chris Brown. But seeing my kids sing in the Primary program this past week brought me so much happiness!
19) Do you use chapstick? No, I don't use anything on my lips. However, my husband was recently looking at an old picture of me when I was wearing lip gloss and then he looked at me, and then back at the picture. His next comment was, "Wow, why don't you wear lip gloss anymore?" Point taken. I think I'll buy some today. How sad that my husband has to constantly remind me that I need to be a girl.
20) If you were in an emergency situation and you had to deliver a baby, could you? Probably. I'm fascinated with giving birth and watched my births in mirrors every time. It would be all that stuff they do afterword that would throw me for a loop. By that point, I was only looking at my new baby and wishing I could jump off the table and go hold it.
21) What was the most recent thing you bought? A new temple dress at the St. Louis temple yesterday.
22) What is on your fridge? Various school papers, my calendar, my grocery list, my dinner menu for the week.
23) Name something you have to do tomorrow? Ride on a float with my girls in the Fall Festival Parade, go to dinner with girl friends, attend the RS broadcast at the Stake Center.
24) What was the last movie you watched? Barbie and the Diamond Castle.
25) Do any of your friends have children? Most of them do.
26) Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk? Regular skim milk. I drink a ton of milk.
27) Can you whistle? Yes, but not very well.
28) Do you have a trampoline at your house? Yes, but only my kids jump on it. When they ask me why I don't jump with them, I answer, "Because I had you. My bladder can't handle that anymore."
29) What movie do you know every line to? None. I never remember the lines to movies after I watch them.
30) Would you ever want to swim with the sharks? I don't think so. Scuba diving sounds terrifying, but maybe I'll conquer that fear someday.
31) Do you know how to do a cart-wheel? Yes, although I'd probably pull my groin if I did one.
32) What are you wearing? My sweats and a t-shirt still. What?! You think I should be out of my jammies by 1:00 in the afternoon? I'll get on that soon.
33) What was the last thing you ate? Delicious leftover pizza from the restaurant yesterday.
34) Do you take pills of any sort? Yes, allergy meds and meds to keep my face clearer.
35) When was the last time you did the dishes? Wednesday night. Although I should be doing them right now. I guess I'll get on that soon, also.
36) How much sleep did you get last night? From 10:30 to 7, with some minor interruptions from Logan. Ohhh, it felt good.
37) Do you own any band t-shirts? Well, I sometimes wear Ryan's Linkin Park t-shirt, if that counts.
38) Last song you sang out loud? I Wonder When He Comes Again to Lindsey. She wants me to sing to her when she gets hurt.
39) When was the last time you slept on the floor? Umm, I guess when we went camping last and I slept in a tent.
40) Who have you talked to today? In real life, only my husband and kids. On the internet and phone, many people.
41) What comes to your mind when I say pumpkins? My favorite time of year - fall.
