Fire Power

It seems there have been so many disasters this past year, but a couple have really hit close to home.  First of all, the house directly across the street from our "old" house in Kearney caught on fire just before Christmas and was a complete loss.  Luckily, our house (which we still own) was not affected (although the street was evacuated for quite a while) and no one was hurt.  You can see how close the house was to ours in this picture, which I took of the boys a couple years ago.
 Their kitchen . . .
Looking inside the house from the front door.  It was so strange to see their roof completely gone.
And their family room.  So heartbreaking for them.
Then this past weekend, we were shocked to hear that the clubhouse at the Liberty Hills Country Club, which we have belonged to for the past few years, had caught on fire.  Somehow the fire departments that responded actually ran out of water and had to let it burn to the ground.  This is a picture taken before the fire.
Brevan and I took these pictures at the site the morning after the fire.  My kids are very sad and concerned about having a pool to swim in this summer.  As well as golfing and swimming, we have attended a few weddings at the clubhouse.

It's amazing to witness the power of fire.

Thanks for posting those pics of Liberty Hills. I've been afraid every night since this happened that my house is going to burn down! I didn't realize it literally burned all the way to the ground. So sad.
