How's this for ironic

Ryan's been in the extreme heat for the past 4 days at Scout Camp with Brevan.  I went down to camp this morning to spend 8 hours with them on "family day."  I endured the heat and humidity (a high of 102), which means I never stopped sweating from the moment I got out of the car.  I hiked to all the great places Brevan wanted to show me, and didn't even complain once about the fact that I wanted to DIE.  Ryan came home with me tonight, and was desperately looking forward to an air conditioned, comfortable night without spiders crawling on him.  We walked in the door and immediately knew the air conditioner wasn't working.

That's right.  The third time this summer.  We've already spent a LARGE amount of money to fix the A/C unit at our old house that is being rented, and the upstairs unit at the house we live in.  So of course our other A/C unit that controls the main level and basement had to give out, even though we paid to have the routine maintenance done on it no less than 6 weeks ago.

This is just ridiculous.  I'm hot, furious and tired of this curse.  We have not had ONE summer since moving to Missouri when our air conditioner didn't give out.  Even with brand-new units in each of our houses!  I remember feeling frustrated when the air conditioner gave out YET AGAIN when I was 9 months pregnant with Logan.  I went in the basement storage room, took off most my clothes, and lay on my back on the cement floor because it was the coolest place in the house.  At that point, I hoped the air conditioning curse was finally over, but nope.  Fast-forward 4 years and we've fixed the A/C units every stinkin' summer since then.

So besides the fact that Ryan now has to deal with a GRUMPY, SWEATY wife, he will have to spend the night in the heat again, without much of a chance for good sleep.  It's 90 degrees on the main floor, 83 degrees upstairs (because all the heat is rising) and probably close to 90 degrees in the basement.  And it just doesn't cool off at night here, like it does out west.  The only fairly cool rooms in the house are the upstairs bedrooms, as long as the doors are kept closed to keep the heat out.  Looks like it's a slumber party in the girl's bedrooms tonight.

Please let an A/C guy be available tomorrow.  It's supposed to be no less than 98 degrees this whole week, with a heat index near 115 because of the humidity and cloudless sky.  I CAN'T WAIT TO FLY TO OREGON IN 12 DAYS.  Bring on the cooler temps and fresh ocean air.

P.S.  I just checked Yahoo weather.  It's 11:00 p.m. and a "cool" 92 outside.  Kill me now.
