This has got to be a record of some sort . . .104 pictures in one post . . .and that's after weeding through them! If you ever need an event to be very well documented, my Mother is the one for the job. She took a bagillion awesome pictures on the day she and my Dad spent "quality time" with Brynlie and Lindsey. It was sunny and warm, so I let the girls stay home from school and visit the Deanna Rose Farmstead with their grandparents, Ryan, me and Logan. Brevan had already taken a day off school to attend the WW1 Museum with them.
So here goes. I couldn't stand to leave out any of these photos, so only our posterity, or those who know us REALLY well, will care to view every picture.
Before entering the farm, we sat on a picnic table outside to have lunch. The wind was already picking up, and it kept blowing for most of the day!
This is one of our favorite places to attend in Missouri. The good people who keep this farm running are amazing.
A replica of an old schoolhouse, where the kids could sit in the corner with the dunce hat.
Mining for gold (pretty rocks)!
This baby lamb was only a week old, and named Benjamin Button. While the rest of us admired the tiny little thing, Ryan made some smart-alec comment about how tasty the lamb would be in only a year or so. Typical Ryan.
Logan was not a fan of the cow!
How cute is it that the little ducklings have a rubber duck in their bathtub??
Logan's shirt says "Crabby." There's a reason for that. Good grief, this kid is a stubborn, adorable little thing.
This is my favorite part of the whole farm! The kids get to walk around with the goats, and feed them bottles full of milk. It's interesting to see which goats are the bullies and which ones are more passive. Brynlie was enjoying taking care of all the little goats, and made sure each hungry goat had plenty to drink. Lindsey just laughed a lot and played around with the goats. Logan was happy if there was only one goat to feed, but he got very stressed out when the goats started fighting over the bottles!
Horse-back rides were a favorite activity for the girls. Logan wouldn't dare get on the horse, but we did finally get him to pet one!
And of course, there's the fishing pond that is stocked with fish (apparently, although Brynlie and I have no proof of this since we couldn't catch a THING while the other family members were reeling them in)!
Suzy Anna, the backpack dolly, had to accompany us on the visit to the farm. I love this picture, because it reminds me that Lindsey is only a little girl. Sometimes I think I get too rushed for my kids to grow up.
Check it out! She caught one ALL BY HERSELF!
And I still got nothin'.
If only my kids were as obedient as these cute ducklings . . .
I have some pictures just like these ones, taken exactly 5 years earlier when Lindsey was only a year old. The first time my parents visited us in Missouri, we took them to this farm. I will have to find the old pictures soon and put them up here along with these. And these pictures are a "re-construction" of the ones taken of my Dad holding Brynlie's hand on this same walkway 5 years ago, when Brynlie was only 4 years old.
A fun and exhausting day!
