Denver

Ryan and I had a WONDERFUL getaway to Denver this past weekend.  We flew there early on Friday morning and got home on Sunday evening.  It was a short trip, but well worth the effort and expense!  We stayed at the Marriot in downtown Denver that is located right on the 16th Street Mall, a 12 block area with stores and restaurants.  Cars are not allowed on the cobblestone streets, so they have a free trolley.  It was the perfect location, and the weather was gorgeous . . .75 degrees and sunshine.

On Friday, we did some shopping and saw a movie at the theater.  Ryan really wanted to see "Battle Los Angeles" - not exactly my first pick - so he was very happy and surprised when I agreed to see it, and honestly it was entertaining.  We ate yummy food ALL DAY LONG (vacations are just good excuses to not follow any sort of a diet plan).  That night we watched another movie in our hotel room.

On Saturday, we slept in as late as our bodies would allow (which wasn't really that late since our internal alarm clocks were not aware we were childless that morning)!  We got ready and headed to the Denver temple, where we did a session together.  Then we stopped at The Melting Pot for lunch.  It was rather pricey, but well worth it!  We ordered the full course meal, and were beyond stuffed by the end.

We then went back to the hotel to change clothes because we did a complete 180 and went to a rock concert!  It was a blast!  We saw The Neon Trees and My Chemical Romance at a really cool venue with chandeliers.  The tickets were all "general admission" since it didn't have any seating, so the place was filled with people trying to get as close as possible to the stage.  I reverted back to my youth by enjoying the chaos of being in the group of smelly people, and spent the whole concert singing, getting pushed around, and cheering as loudly as possible.  I had many other people's sweat on me by the time the concert was over, and would do it again in a heartbeat!

On Sunday we ate a delicious breakfast at an authentic French Crepe Restaurant, then headed for the airport.  It was fun to get back and see our kids that evening.  There were many families that helped us out by watching/driving kids while we were gone . . .Simmons, Morrisons, Napiers, Campbells and Smothers . . .and we appreciate them all!  I am a big supporter of couples getting away at least once a year, and I hope they let us watch their kids so they can have some alone time!

My favorite quote of the trip:

Ryan:  Oooh, there's an Indian restaurant right there!  We should try that.  I ate Indian food last month with Adam, and it was soooo good.
Ali:  But I don't like spicy food.
Ryan:  What I ate last time wasn't even spicy!  It tasted like coconut milk and . . . . .angels.

And now I'm unpacking and RE-PACKING so I can fly to Utah on Wednesday and enjoy 5 days with my favorite girls!
