Lindsey on steroids

You know how people often describe something intense as "_______ on steroids?"

My Lindsey has very Scandinavian skin, meaning she is extremely fair and dry. She has always had eczema, but has a different form right now that looks eerily like ringworm. After taking her to the doctor a week ago to get her skin scraped and examined, the doctor assured me that it was just a "ring" form of eczema all over her skin. He prescribed a daily oral medication as well as an ointment.

Well, this week has been a little rough with the little "intense" blondie. She has literally been bouncing off our walls. Her Kindergarten teacher is constantly having to pull her aside and remind her of the classroom rules. Lindsey has been coming home from school and telling me, "I'm trying so hard to sit still, but my body won't let me." At first I didn't think much of it, because Lindsey has always been a ball of energy.

After many days of this, and my patience wearing thin, I had the thought to examine the oral medication more thoroughly. I "googled" it online, and found out . . .it is a steroid.

Haha! So I'm giving my already-extremely-energetic child a steroid and expecting her to sit still! Luckily, we are almost done with the medication and her skin is looking much better.

Lindsey is an early-to-bed, early-to-rise kind of girl. She is always the first one asleep at night, and the first one to get up in the morning. Last night we finished assembling Valentines long after bedtime, and Lindsey was still wide awake, due to the medication. When I told her we needed to get her to bed, she said, "But Mom, I'm not tired yet! See? I have lots of happy left in me!"
