Is it weird that I'd be angry if Ryan got me flowers for Valentines Day or our Anniversary? I come from a band of practical women, so I would rather put $50 in a savings account than have it spent on something as silly as flowers. They are just going to die. This is where someone should remind me that I spend entirely too much money eating out. But at least my mouth is very pleased with my food purchases, and I can enjoy the company of my man while sitting across the table from him at a restaurant. Ryan has gotten me flowers at times in the past. I try to act very appreciative, but I'm so glad he knows me well enough now to not do that anymore. When I would see the bouquet of flowers he purchased, I would think, "Dangit, how much did he spend on those?" I may also be a little controlling about our money.
And maybe I'm a total Scrooge, but I don't like Valentines Day in general. I think V-Day is for the kids, who can exchange cards and candy, and the sick-in-love single people who feel the need to confess their love constantly. I must be getting old, but I just hate how commercialized V-Day is. I would much rather give/get a surprise on any other day of the year, when Hallmark didn't have to remind my husband to appreciate me.
Ryan got me an iPod for our Anniversary. It has a handy little clip on the back, so I can pin it on my workout shirt while I exercise. I love it! A couple days ago I was having a conversation with a friend about the advantages of running on a treadmill as opposed to running outside. She said she enjoys watching TV on the treadmill while running. My sweet 9-year-old popped into the conversation to say, "Oh, my Mom has to listen to music that has bad words when she runs." Oops. I sure wish I could get my workout jollies by listening to Classical music or {gasp} the scriptures. But unless I'm listening to something that makes me want to dance or yell, I'm not moving.

LOVE IT!! Isn't listening to the scriptures while exercising not appropriate? I mean really. HA HA HA! You blast what ever you want. I caught my two year old singing lady gaga the other day, and was glad my mother wasn't around! :) I hear ya with the flowers. I would rather have a shirt or something. D I think likes to buy them for me, and I gotta admit, I am a sucker for them. BUT they are kinda depressing when you think about it. The person you love is giving you something that is going to die! How romantic is that?! UM......... AND you my friend are gorgeous and don't need to be loosing weight. What are you talking about! You are beautiful always! Loved the hallmark reminder comment by the way. :)
My kids always ask if they can listen to my Ipod but I tell them it has grown up music on it and they can't. I am with you....need good music to run and am okay with a swear word here and there. I love having a shuffle for exercising. Greatest invention.
