Barbara's Baby Shower

I hosted my first Baby Shower this past weekend!  My friend, Barbara, already has three cute boys and is now having a baby girl in a couple weeks.  I was so excited to go shopping for a girl present, so I decided I should throw her a pink party!  I just can't understand people who don't get into the whole pink thing with girls, because I went so overboard that I now have a drawer dedicated to baby girl presents.  As a side note, I also don't understand people who hate to shop in general. I swear I could spend all day searching for bargains in stores, but that is a post for another day!
My friend, Jen, is an expert cupcake decorator, so I asked her to design some for the party.  I made a yummy punch and cut up lots of fruit.

After the food and present-opening, we dipped our hands in paraffin wax and lathered them up with smelly lotions.  I came up with the pampering idea because I refuse to play Baby Shower games.
The day before the party was rather stressful because I felt like I needed to get my entire house spotless, since it would be the first time for many people to see my house. Silly me.  No one even walked around the house that I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. cleaning.  But what DID they see?  My filthy microwave, which had to be used for the paraffin wax.  It would have taken me all of 2 minutes to wipe down my gross microwave, but instead I stayed up scrubbing bathrooms and vacuuming every corner of the house.  Brenda and I got a good laugh about this, because she experienced the exact same problem at a party she hosted last year!  So we have learned our lesson:  always clean your microwave when you are having guests!
