There was a strong rain storm on the evening of the 16th, so we threw a tarp over our suitcases in the back of the truck and drove to Ryan's parent's house in South Jordan. Keri and her kids had just arrived that day from Texas, plus Sean and Ashley had brought the girls over, so it was a very fun reunion for all of us! Brynlie got a bit overwhelmed at first and began crying from anxiety, so Kelsi hugged her and they talked for quite a while until Bryn felt better. There's just nothing like a cousin.
Over the next few days, the kids bonded during sleepovers, swimming, canoeing in the lake, going to Lagoon Amusement Park (with the Webbs and grandparents), celebrating birthdays, having a BBQ at Sean's house, giving each other make-overs, etc. I loved every second of the bonding that took place.
How cute are these two boys (Logan and Brayden)? They still hold hands whenever they go somewhere together! The first many hours at Lagoon were spent trying to get most of our kids to go on rides. Logan was very hesitant about most of them, because it's been so long since we went to an amusement park. Lindsey was a daredevil, and even Brynlie and Brevan were trying their hardest to be brave. By the end of the day, I had a whole clan of daredevils who went on scarier rides than I did! At one point, Ryan took several of our kids and their cousins on a new ride that made them all terribly sick. After that ride, Ryan declared that he was entirely too old to be that crazy. He and I both dealt with nausea after a day on the rides! We are officially old!
Lindsey cracks me up! She rode any roller coaster we took her on, but you put this girl on a high ferris wheel and she completely fell apart! She was so terrified, I had to beg the attendant to let us off early. Granted, this ride scares me too, because the carts can spin in circles while way up in the sky. It felt like they were going to unscrew and fall to the ground!
On Friday, the 19th, Keri and I took the girls for some much-needed time at a nail salon. Keri and I also spent a lot of time together while we shopped without the kids. I really love Keri, and am so glad we've become close over the years.
After getting all prettied-up at the salon, we all went over to Sean and Ashley's house for a BBQ. I enjoyed getting to know Ashley better on this trip, and we had some good discussions on this day that helped us understand each other's personalities better. She's a great step-mom to my sweet nieces I adore.
Roy and Bonnie spent so much time in their kitchen, always making yummy food for everyone while we stayed with them. We definitely ate well for the month we were in Utah!
