July 15th-16th

On Monday evening (July 15th), I drove to Janee's house in Salt Lake so we could ride together up to Ogden, where we met up with Jaime, Jami and Tera.  I love these girls so much!  We all grew up in the same ward in Sandy, Utah.  I'm apparently not good at posing like all the teenage girls do these days, because I didn't wrap my arm around Jaime. :)  We reminisced about so many fun times and spent the evening laughing and eating.

While I was with my childhood friends, my parents took the three youngest kids to a nearby park.  The parks in Utah are like small amusement parks compared to the ones we have in Missouri.  One of the parks near my parents house actually has workout equipment for kids!

On Tuesday morning (July 16th), I took Brevan and Brynlie down to Provo for the day.  We rented a couple bikes (one being a tandem bike!) and rode all around BYU campus.  We had one of the best days ever: giggling, acting tourist-y, eating ice cream from the Creamery, walking through facilities including the new Hinckley Alumni House, having lunch in the food court of the Wilkinson Center, buying lots of BYU gear in the Bookstore, and getting the kids excited to attend college someday.  Ryan and I would love to have our kids attend college out west someday, where they will be surrounded by other LDS kids.  It was fun to see their reactions to all the LDS people in the same area, including the cheezy couples who couldn't let go of each other for even one second.

While Ryan was working and I was touring BYU with the oldest kids, my parents took Lindsey and Logan to a huge store full of outdoor gear and a ferris wheel.  Logan refused to ride the ferris wheel, but Lindsey excitedly jumped on with my Dad and apparently did NOT stop talking the entire time.  So shocking, right!?  My parents also took them out to lunch and back to the cool park near their house.

After our BYU tour, we met up with the Napiers (and Christine's parents) at Telos, the residential treatment center in Orem where Will is living right now.  I loved touring the facility, not only because Will is there, but because I've decided to focus my college studies on becoming a family therapist.  My Dad was instrumental in tutoring the men who started Telos many years ago, so it was fun to discuss the program with my Dad later.  Will is progressing so well at Telos!

It was pretty funny that we drove 1,000 miles to hang out with our next-door neighbors in Missouri!  The kids, of course, loved seeing their friends!

That evening, we picked up Ryan from work, picked up the kids from my parents, and met our nephew Brandon and his girlfriend, Angela, at The Brick Oven for dinner.  We all loved getting to know Angela, and have decided to call these two "Brangela."  My kids might actually love Angela more than Brandon does.
