Loganberry Pie

Logan has a new talent.  One day he told me he wanted to sleep in his own bed.  I was pretty shocked, considering the kid has never slept alone since the day he was born.  He has either slept in bed with Ryan and I, Brevan or Brynlie every night of his (almost) 5 years.  We like to say that we play musical beds at our house, because Brevan was most recently sleeping in Logan's bedroom, while Logan was sleeping with Brynlie in her queen-sized bed.

On this day, Logan had actually gone up to his bed in the afternoon and put himself down for a nap.  I'm still in awe that he can sleep on his own.  I realize how completely crazy that seems, since most kids sleep in their own bed from the time they are infants, but Ryan and I have always enjoyed cuddling with them at night.

Oh my.  Tap shoes, sequined dress and a scarf.  I found these rascals playing outside in this attire and asked Logan why he was dressed like a girl.  His answer, "Because I look so PRETTY!"  He's going to hate me someday for documenting this day.

The answers Logan gave to his church teacher on Father's Day.

Logan loves to watch the girls compete at their swim meets and help them out of the water when they finish the races.

Logan has competed in his first year of swim team, and has loved it!  In May, when the swim practices started, he wasn't able to put his head in the water at all.  We had to train him how to use goggles and blow bubbles.  After daily practices with the best swim coach ever, he is already able to swim the length of the pool and compete in the swim meets.  I recorded his first swim competition, where it took him over 2 minutes to swim 25 meters.  It was so fun to cheer for him!  Unlike my other kids were at this age, he LOVES being in the water and being pushed to get better. Also, his tiny bum looks so cute in the tiny speedo shorts he has to wear!

Logan's had a lot of fun times with friends this summer, including this day when Dominick joined us at the pool.

And one last moment to remember:  Logan was taking a bath the other day when he mentioned a black thing he couldn't seem to clean off himself.  The poor guy had a tick right on his unmentionables, which had obviously been there for several days because the area was red and swollen.  We mentioned possibly taking him to the doctor to have the tick removed properly, but a few minutes later Logan came out of our bedroom and stated that he'd taken care of the problem.  He had removed the entire tick by digging with his fingernails.  Ouch!
