To quote Al Roker this morning . . .

"From Kansas City to Chicago, we're talking about anywhere from 18 to 24 inches of snow . . .but the more dangerous part of this is the icing . . .we are talking about anywhere from a half an inch to an inch of ice. Ice can do much more damage than 2 feet of snow. An inch of ice will bring down power lines, trees, knock out power, and cause a mess on streets."

It looks like we will spending the week inside our house again. I already went to the gym and the grocery store this morning. The store was crazy busy with everyone stocking up. It always makes me grateful that the only things I need to stock up on are produce and milk, since we keep all the other basics in food storage. In a minute I will be heading out to the craft store to pick up some supplies to keep the kids sane this week.

As crazy as it is, I am still kind of liking these snow days. They mean more time around the fire, movies, books, board games and comfy clothes. I much prefer the chaos of keeping kids busy at home to the chaos of running kids around to activities and feeling like we don't have time to relax as a family.

**Just got a phone call from Ryan. "Did you get the email from the school? The Middle School kids are getting out at 12:30, and the Elementary kids are letting out at 1:30." Looks like Brevan won't be going to school at all, since I don't drop him off until noon (after the homeschool stuff in the morning). The HIGH on Wednesday is 9 degrees, with a LOW of -10. You'd think I live in the Arctic instead of Missouri!**
