- I always cut onions by hand, even though I have a nice chopper, because I love the smell of my hands for the rest of the day.
- When eating at a restaurant, I have to sit on the side of the table that faces the rest of the tables. I can't stand to ever face a window or (even worse) a wall. I also can't run on the treadmills at the gym because they face the wall.
- I am terrified of being tackled. Playing "wrestling" with the kids is absolute torture for me, so they have learned to leave me alone. Ryan occasionally finds it funny to run in a room and tackle me. It's not funny.
- Although my house is not always clean, I am a "place" person. I think if you're going to clean, you should do it the right way and put everything in it's proper place. I would rather have a dirty kitchen than a half-cleaned kitchen. I think if you're going to take the time to clean part of a room, you should clean it until it sparkles and put everything away. I hate random stacks of things. About every month or so, I go through each of my kid's rooms and throw away tons of what I consider "junk." They hate it, but I think it's necessary for life to feel organized.
- I wear pajamas until I'm leaving to go somewhere. I see no point in getting ready if I'm just going to be hanging around the house. I will even drop off my kids at school, go through a drive-through, or get gas in my pajamas. Those are definitely not good reasons to dirty a perfectly good pair of jeans. My children have now learned this way of thinking, and usually spend all of Saturday in pajamas.
- I don't like to get the messages on my home phone. I will go weeks without checking them, even though the message light is blinking. I figure anyone I really care about knows my cell phone number.
- I absolutely believe in being frugal, but there are some times in life when I refuse to be cheap. 1.) I get my hair cut and colored every couple months. Always have, since the days when we were poor. 2.) Jeans. Since my teenage days, I have had a firm belief that cheap shirts can look attractive, but jeans should be carefully purchased to make sure they fit just right. Jeans can make or break an outfit. 3.) Getting my eyebrows waxed. It's only $10 every couple weeks, but it makes me feel like a whole new girl when I walk out of the salon. 4.) Good bras. They make me feel young and perky.
