Despite my severe dislike for sweat, I believe I am getting in shape.
Tonight at the gym I burned almost 600 calories on the tread-climber. When I finished I had more energy than when I'd started, so I jumped on a normal treadmill and ran a couple miles. Granted, they were almost 10 minute miles, but I still wasn't too worn out. I did all my ab exercises for 15 minutes and then spent another 15 minutes alternating weight-lifting and lunges. At that point I decided to leave because I knew the family was expecting me home for dinner. But I still didn't feel too exhausted.
As far as the diet goes, I have my good days and not-so-good-days. But I realized that's OK. On Friday, my hot husband took me on a date and I ate lots of delicious food. And dessert. And I think that's OK. And today was Labor Day, so we took the kids to the Smithville Lake beach (since it was too windy to go boating on the lake) and I snacked on chips after eating my tuna fish for lunch. And I think that's OK.
I'm feeling better for sure. When I got on the scale tonight, I weighed 148, which means I'm down one pound from my starting weight. But that was probably just water weight I sweated out while exercising. Oh well. At least I'm feeling better physically and not loathing myself.
My favorite foods right now are:
Cut-up carrots and cucumber dipped in a combo of cottage cheese and dry ranch dressing mix (just the spices, not the actual dressing).
Triscuit crackers when I'm craving carbs or salt.
Apples.
Southwestern breakfast burritos (whole wheat tortilla, egg whites, corn, black beans and green salsa).
Strawberries. Mmmmm. They taste so much sweeter when I'm not eating refined sugar non-stop.
Healthy shakes. My fav is: 2 clementines, cup of frozen berries, 1 tsp. Crystal Light powder, 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring, half-cup skim milk, half-cup water, 6 ice cubes.
I would love any ideas on good food choices from all you health nuts. Some of my super crazy friends (ya, you know who you are) run marathons and half-marathons all the time. For fun. I'm definitely not there, and never will be. But I'm doing better than ever, and that makes me happy.
Take that, Doritos.

Your food sounds a lot like the Kristi Approved diet. Works well. I like the work out plan that goes with it. I plan on getting back on track with it in the next couple of weeks.
It's a great feeling when you start actually feeling better after you work out!! Love that!
Almonds - they have "good" fats
100-calorie popcorn bags
Laughing Cow cheese wedges
Yogurt with flaxseed added in (has Omega 3s for heart health)
Bagel Thins/Sandwich Thins
Sam's Club has super-huge gala apples that are so delicious!
Frozen cut strawberries with fat-free Cool Whip
Egg Beaters (don't get the cheap store brand)
I know you say you would never run a half/full marathon, but what about a 5k? That's about 3 1/4 miles and they're really fun. I'm looking for one to do in October.
I'm super impressed with your workout! I started doing a shake that is 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, and 1 cup spinach leaves. The spinach part sounds weird, but blended all together you don't taste it. I have a hard time eating all the vegetables I should so this is a good way for me to get them. It's become my go-to lunch almost every day.
