Backpack Baby

These pictures literally make me cry. Logan started preschool last week, which is a wonderful thing because I can focus more on homeschooling Brevan during that time. But wow. My baby is sporting a backpack and going away from me. Logan is social and is very ready to learn and make new friends. But I'm struggling as I watch him move into the next stage of life.

I am constantly staring at babies. Not just looking at their cute outfits or tickling them to make them smile. I notice all the little things I desperately miss. Now don't get me wrong . . .this uterus is in retirement for good. But I loved having babies, and watching them learn and grow. I miss the toothless smiles. Chubby thighs. The drunk look they get after nursing. The smell of their sweet breath. Sigh. At the same time, it's fun to see my kids grow up and become more independent. I just love being a mom.

So here is Logan in all his Back-to-School glory! I had taken him shopping the day before and let him pick out a backpack. After changing his mind many times, he decided on Lightning McQueen. Lightning always beats out Spiderman and Thomas the Train for this little boy.

For the record, he LOVED the first day of school and can't wait to go back!
