Back to School

My babies are heading back to school. I'm still in denial that summer is actually over. I never have a hard time sending my kids on the first day of school. It always hits me a few days later when I realize they have to go to school every day!

Last night we took the girls to the Back to School night at Kearney Elementary, where I took pictures of the girls with their teachers. First we took Lindsey to her new classroom. My baby girl is in ALL-DAY Kindergarten! I can't believe it. The bus will pick up the girls in front of our house at 8:15 and will drop them off again at 4:15. My little Lindsey doesn't seem big enough to be gone from me so long. But she was READY to be a big Kindergartener. Her teacher this year is Miss Fischer.
Brynlie's 3rd Grade teacher is Mrs. Hedgecorth. I think both my girls lucked out to have great teachers, and I'm looking forward to them learning many new things this year. Brynlie knows a few of the kids in her class already, even though she is going to a new elementary school this year. She will still attend Beyond Basics on Mondays, and the BB classroom is right next door to her homeroom.
And then this morning came. WAY too early. I woke up to the girls giggling upstairs at 5:45! They told me they were just far too excited for school, and couldn't sleep anymore!

Brevan's schedule was a bit different for today. Usually he will do school work on the computer for 4 hours in the morning, then attend the Middle School for 6th, 7th and 8th period. Today the school changed their schedule around, so 8th period was first thing in the morning. That means I had to take him to school at 7:30 and pick him up at 8:20. I will take him back to the school at 12:00 and pick him up again at 2:45. It was actually kind of nice to take him to school at the same time as the other students this morning. He was looking super handsome, and was excited for this new adventure. He wouldn't let me walk him into school, so I had to take a picture while driving him to school.
And then one more picture when he stepped out my car and became an official Big Kid. Sigh.
After picking up Brevan from his first hour of school, he came with me to drop off the girls. They had been dressed and ready for many hours, so were excited to finally be walking in the school doors! Both girls walked right into their classrooms and didn't look back. I wasn't gonna have any of that, so I went right into their classrooms and gave them a big hug.

Now my "caboose" Logan is begging me to come play, since he's not used to having the girls gone. I'm so glad I get to stay home with him for many more years. I'm not ready for all my kids to walk away and not look back.

What a great idea for the pool party! Looks like a blast. And I hear ya with the all day kindergarten. What's up with that? Parker starts next week. I'm sure I will love it after a few days, but that's a long time for him to be gone! How is Lindsey doing with it so far?
