Interview with Brynlie Janae, age 8

If you could keep your room any way you wanted, how would it look? Oooo, this will be awesome. It would have dressers made of gold. The big one would be by the windows and the little one would be by the magnet board. Pink and purple bed, and the bed would go by the little dresser. My walls would be pink and purple striped. The ceiling would be made of gold. The carpet color would be pink with purple swirlies, oooh, and the curtains would match the design on the carpet. There would be a closet door made out of pure gold. That would be a cool room. And a disco ball, of course. And an ice cream parlor, and a hair salon, dance floor by the disco ball and a closet so big it has 4 elevators. And I would still share the room with Lindsey so I would have a friend there to enjoy all my fun things.

If you could tell me to never serve two vegetables again, which two would you choose? Squash and spinach.

What do you think I'd rather you be: an professional sports player, the mayor, a famous explorer, or a movie star? I'd say somewhere between mayor and movie star.

On a scale of one to nine, how strict do you think I am? 6. Where on the scale would you like me to be? 2.

What would be the ideal allowance and how would you spend it? Infinity dollars! I would buy all the chocolate in the world, have a mansion of pure gold, 20 brown and white horses, the worlds biggest swimming pool and silver and gold jewelry.

How much privacy would you like? One and a half hours every day.

Can you think of any of my clothes that I should never put on again? Ummm, well ya. But I don't want to hurt your feelings. OK, well it's the red and black checkered sweatpants. They are just really not cute.

If a genie could give you one wish, would you rather be world-class attractive, a genius, or famous for doing something great? World-class attractive, because I love to be pretty.

If you are feeling sad, how can I make you feel better? Make me Too-Much-Chocolate-Cake.

What punishment have I given you that you thought was completely unfair? When I lied to you so you made me sit on my bed all night and not eat dinner.

If you could change three things about yourself, what would they be? To not have constant boogars, have long and pretty nails, and have the prettiest hair in the world.

What are the qualities that make a good friend? Caring, willing to choose good friends over the "cool" group, nice, not lie to you and really be a friend, not just act like it and be a show-off.

Do you think you should be paid for any of your chores? Yes, all of them. $5 each.

What was your favorite toy when you were little? My princess carriage with the 2 horses.

What do you say to comfort yourself when you are scared? It's OK, Brynlie. Just be brave. Take a deep breathe.

If you looked at all the pictures of yourself in your life, at what age do you think you were the cutest? Ages 1 through 3.

What do you think are the characteristics to make a good parent? Take care of your kids by feeding them and buying them clothes. Be caring. And know the children well, like what kinds of things comfort them and what medicines they are allergic to. Be nice and spend a lot of time with their kids.

Name the three movie stars you most admire: Miley Cyrus, Ashley Tisdale and Selena Gomez.

Name a movie star that you don't like: Every person on Ben 10 Alien Force.

Do you think it's important to get physical education in school? Yes, because most kids can't drive to a gym to workout. PE is a good way to be active, get strengthened and get involved in sports.

Do you think I lose my temper too often? Yes, yes I do. You lose it far too often.

What is the most enjoyable thing our family has done together? The California trip with Disneyland and all that.

At what age do you think kids can fall in love? Age 15.

What do you think is beyond the stars? The Milky Way and Outer Darkness.

What is the nicest thing a friend has ever done for you? When Megan and Ellie helped me at my sleepover when I locked my leg on the trampoline and hurt it.

Do you like scary movies? No, kids shouldn't watch them because sometimes if a kid is watching, they might see bad choices and think it's OK to do those things.

Name two things we should do as a family every weekend: Go to Classy Chocolate and take a family walk.

Do I ever not notice that you are sad? Yes, sometimes I cry when you don't see me.

Do you know any mean kids? Yes, Brennan says bad words and tackles kids at recess and tells people things like "I hate you" or "you're stupid" and then lies and says he doesn't.

What do you think heaven looks like? Beautiful grass, birds singing, it's always sunny and peaceful, and everyones nice so no one fights or gets hurt.

What have you done that you are especially proud of? Swimming, dancing and math.

Which of your friends are you the most proud of? Megan, because even when people are mean to her, she is friendly and nice. She's just so nice and always apologizes and says nice comments to me every day and never leaves anyone alone.

Have you ever had a dream that really scared you? Yes, I had a scary Halloween dream. It's so scary, I don't even want to tell you about it, but there was a haunted house with people drinking blood and eating body parts. And monsters beating people up and burning them. Everyone was trying to destroy me, even though I was the beautiful princess. And someone stole my blankies and burned them.

What is the scariest movie you've ever seen? Titanic.

How much TV should a kid be allowed to watch in a day? One hour.

Not counting our religion, which religions do you find interesting? The thing I think is interesting about Megan's religion [Catholic] is that they baptize babies and put water on their finger and put it on the babies forehead in the shape of a cross.

Do you ever feel so angry you could hurt someone? Yes, when someone pinky swears and then doesn't do it.

What do you think is the right age to be married? I think 22.

Tell me three things you remember about kindergarten? There were buckets with a book and activity, the game time where there were buckets with numbers and everyone got one, and the Barbie center with the same dollhouse I had in preschool and lots of dolls from McDonalds.

If you could trade lives with someone, who would it be? Megan, because she hardly ever does any cleaning and her parents help her every time she cleans up. And every night before she goes to bed she gets a delicious milkshake that her Dad makes.

What would you do if you were invisible for a day? Sneak all the candy I could, because ghosts only eat candy. And sneak to my friend's houses to watch them and eat their junk food.

Who do you think you are most like in our family? You, because of our hair color, but me and Lindsey just think so much alike.

Do you believe men and women are equally smart? No, because I think girls are smarter than boys.

What chore do you hate the most? Cleaning the toy room and my bedroom.

What do you enjoy about school? Math, computer lab and recess.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Flying and also having the power to make people do whatever I want and never be mad at me, and to make sure my Mommy is always by my side.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A school teacher, mom, ballet teacher, librarian, doctor and veterinarian.

If the house was on fire, what three things would you grab? My blankie, my Hannah Montana barbie doll, and my favorite outfit. [I rolled my eyes, and asked which outfit she would save.] The brown hat with the dress thing that has matching brown leggings and my brown sandals with the gold gems.

If you could change the world, what would you do? Make everyone be good.

How can I help you be happier? Giving me more hugs, saying you love me more and making me Too-Much-Chocolate-Cake.

What is your first thought when you wake up? I love my family.

If you had three wishes granted, what would they be? To have all the money in the world, all the junk food in the world, and be a princess in a pink palace with a purple carriage with unicorns.

What is the craziest thing you've ever done? Sometimes when I'm at dance class and Miss Brooke isn't looking, I run up to the mirrors and start dancing like crazy.
