Funny texts

Texting has become such a way of life for me, that it's hard to imagine a time when I always had to speak on the phone.  I love being able to communicate with Brevan throughout the day, I love that I can send Ryan a message while he's in a meeting or on the phone and he can respond right away, and I love texting friends to ask simple questions.  Brynlie is dying to get a phone, but our family rule is age 12.  She likes to use one of our phones to text whenever possible.  When Ryan and I went on a double-date with my parents to a movie a couple weeks ago, Brynlie started texting us almost immediately after we left.  When we started reading through all the texts after the movie, we busted up laughing.  Bryn is super responsible and mature, so we usually leave her in charge to "babysit," but she can also be rather bossy at times!  Oh my gosh, I've watched these videos about 20 times and can't stop laughing because they show our kids personalities so well!

Brynlie, 8:19 pm:  Dad, remember when you told Brevan to get off the computer so he would interact with people?  Well right after he got off, ten minutes after you left, he went straight to his phone, and is still playing games in the other room.  When I told him to get off he said he didn't care and DID NOT want to talk to people and asked me why I wasn't talking to people while Lindsey and Logan, the students in my play school class laughed.  Typical teens I guess.  Just letting you know he's not exactly in a great mood, or doing what you told him to do.  Interact.  Love you!  Remember to fill up your popcorn at the end of the movie and bring me some delicious butter and salt madness!!! Bryn

She then sent a picture of Brevan playing on his phone.

Brynlie, 9:16 pm:  Thunder and rain big time!  Kind of scared!

Ryan:  OK, I love you.  Movie is starting.

Brynlie, 9:58 pm:  Hey, when do you want me to send the kids to bed?  I took a long nap today so I'll be up a while, and if I have the kids go upstairs they will be scared by thunder.  I can just put them to sleep on your bed if that's ok.  So when?  Logan's still running and jumping and talking and talking and talking and talking.  But I can tell that is going to wear out soon.  Surprisingly, Lindsey's still up too.  It's 10:00.  Love you Daddy, enjoy your movie!  Is it a chick-flick?

Brynlie, 10:24 pm:  Brevan is terrible!!!  He hurt Logan, then I said he was a bad example and he screamed at me that Logan attacks him every second of every day and that in return he can hurt him if he wants and threw a huge fit.  Then he said everyone is being mean.  Then he said he's going to text you to say how "freakin" annoying I am and now he's yelling at Lindsey to be quiet and telling Logan to hit Lindsey 100 times. Everyone is crying and any second now Brevan is going to punch in every direction.  He just said he teaches by example and if anyone is hurting you, you hurt them.  Everyone's crying!!  Daddy!!!!!  I've never heard him scream this way!  He won't stop threatening us that he's gonna hit and he is!  COME HOME!!!!!!!

She then sent a picture of Lindsey crying, followed by this video:

And then this video:

Brynlie, 11:05 pmNever mind.  I love Brevan.  He rocks.  Go Brevan Super Hero Man!  Love him so much!!!!!!

Brynlie, 11:13 pm:  Just barely now put the kids to bed.  They are tired!!!  But they enjoyed staying up and playing.  Where are you?  Your movie should be over around now.  Remember that popcorn!  Love you!!!

Ryan, 11:37 pm:  We are on our way home.  See you soon!  Love you!

WOW!  I just have to state my favorite parts of this whole ordeal.  First of all, are they really fighting about TELLING EACH OTHER THEY LOVE EACH OTHER OFTEN ENOUGH?  Haha!  Then there's the fact that Brynlie keeps saying Brevan is yelling, when he is being the calmest one.  And where is Logan in the whole ordeal?  Is he just staying in the other room thinking that his whole family is crazy?

My favorite lines:

When Brevan keeps yelling, "FACT!"

When Brynlie said, "The point is that we told you not to!"  If I was her older, teenage brother I probably wouldn't respond very well to being told what I can't do!

When Brynlie says, "THAT is how you stand up!  THAT is how you stand up to someone!"

When Lindsey stops her sobbing to say, "Guys, please stop!"  Poor girl with the high anxiety was falling apart!

When Brevan says, "This isn't a crying situation.  This is a logical talk situation."  Hahaha!  My logical boy.

When Brynlie says, "I'm letting you.  I'm giving you permission to play computer."  Again, isn't he 3 years older than her?

When Brynlie puts on her calm voice and tries to end the crisis with a sugary-sweet voice (that would annoy any teenage boy).

Oh my.  I'm just so glad all of this is captured on video!
