The week before school started, I took each of the kids on a Mom Date. It was no surprise that both girls wanted to do some clothes shopping and eat delicious food. Logan skipped the boring clothes and chose to spend his birthday money from grandparents before making himself sick with frozen yogurt toppings. Brevan went so far as to skip the actual date and just have me pick up some ice cream for him. He still owes me a date.
Finding cute, modest clothes for a teenager is becoming quite a chore, but Brynlie found some darling shirts, a few pair of jeans that passed the comfortable test, and some stylish Nike shoes. In the picture on the right, she is wearing a nylon sock on her head to hold a package of Milky Way candies in place. We may have gotten a bit silly on our date. It's also worth noting that Brynlie stayed completely calm the entire time she had to make numerous decisions. As we drove home, she remarked, "I didn't even cry once today!"
No surprise here . . . Lindsey wanted to have me take video and pictures while she put on a fashion show. This kid is a character.
Logan was super excited to time alone with Mom. First we hit up Target to spend a gift card from Grandma and Grandpa Ellefsen. After the hilarious Lego movie was purchased, we visited Lemon Tree for some frozen yogurt candy toppings. Then we drove over to Game Stop to spend the gift card from Grandma and Grandpa Springer on a new video game for his 3DS. This smiley kid still holds me hand any chance he gets, and gives me 10 billion kisses before he'll consider going to sleep at night. He's one awesome dude.
Brynlie, Lindsey and Logan took dance classes over the summer that finished up last week. Brynlie's legs have become so flexible and strong this year.
Lindsey's strengths are HipHop and Acro. She has an incredibly flexible back.
If you want to see something adorable, come watch 6 & 7-year-olds learn HipHop from Coach P. I giggled with delight watching Logan show off his white boy moves.
A few more end of summer pics:
The kids got creative with this dolly one day by making an amusement park in the yard. The second picture makes me laugh because Logan was so upset that he couldn't be the first to ride on the dolly with Bella. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids get along and use their imaginations.
But wait . . . I have one more kid who wasn't pictured anywhere above. What's Brevan been up to? This pretty much sums up his life at the moment. He is the most dedicated student I've ever seen, and loves to study Math when he needs to relax. God obviously just used me as the incubator needed to bring this brilliant kid down from heaven. He amazes me every day.
