Our cute little guy had a birthday while we were on vacation. We had returned from Lake Powell the day before and were staying with Ryan's parents before heading to Idaho the next day. We spent the whole day giving him kisses and pretty much anything he wanted. For lunch we ate at In 'n Out Burger because it's his favorite Utah restaurant. The rest of us weren't all that impressed. I don't think anything would have tasted good to me, however, because this was the day I realized my memory card had malfunctioned, causing me to lose so many vacation photos. I had my pity party before deciding to buck up because Logan deserved a happy mom on his birthday!
In the late afternoon, my parents joined us at the Roy and Bonnie's house for a birthday party. Logan was excited to open his presents: a Batman movie from Grandma and Grandpa Springer, an Ironman movie and mask from Grandma and Grandpa Ellefsen, and a motorized scooter from me and Ryan. Then we walked to the neighborhood lake and rented a couple canoes. Rowing around the lake was a good workout for my arms! The girl canoe had fun racing the boy canoe, but the boys were unfortunately faster and more coordinated. This was the second time my kids had canoed this week. On the first trip around the lake, the girls had "accidentally" tipped the boat, making Grandpa Ellefsen fall in the water.
We ate a very high-class dinner of KFC while our parents caught up on their latest travel adventures and retirement stories. Bonnie had made a special cake for Logan - Too Much Chocolate Cake (one of my kid's favorites). I wonder what superpowers Logan wished for while blowing out his candles. It was fun evening spent with all the grandparents!
I think these dorks enjoyed the cake and ice cream!
