Update on Logan

I'm having such a fun year with Logan.  I don't get much done during the day because he's so demanding of my time, but I figure I have the rest of my life to get stuff done but this is his last year at home with me.  Although I have really enjoyed the homeschool preschool, some of the other moms have decided to do something different, so sadly I won't be able to teach anymore.

Logan can be super stubborn at times, but is definitely the sweetest, most loving little boy I know.  He loves to cuddle, give kisses, make surprises for everyone in the family and be at home with me.  Logan learned a new trick, too!  He can read now!  One day I realized he was sounding out complete words that he saw around the house, so I took him to the library for some beginning reader books.  He has been flying through them with ease, and now is excited about reading everything around him.  He's grown up so much this year.

Logan looks like such a cute little angel when he sleeps.  He is so peaceful and never makes a noise.

Logan got the honor of putting the star on the tree this year.

This is the letter Logan wrote to Santa.  He was ready to send it the day after Thanksgiving, so I drove through town trying to find a Santa Box, where letters are collected and sent directly to Santa.  We couldn't find one, so ended up sending it at the Post Office.  It obviously reached Santa just fine, because Logan got a letter in the mail from Santa just a couple weeks later!

His letter says:  "Webshooter, Amazing Spiderman movie and game, Hedbanz, Hulk mask and gloves, Transformers, Luke [Skywalker], Darth Maul, Tiefighter, Deathstar, Avengers guys, Batwing."  Our favorite letter of the alphabet he writes is a lowercase g, like the one at the end of Batwing.

One day while picking up Brevan from school, it started snowing!  It was a fun surprise since the weatherman didn't call for snow, plus we don't get much snow here in Missouri. It was melted a half-hour later, but it was fun while it lasted!

Logan had his preschool Christmas program at school last week.  Ryan was traveling and I was making dinner for a couple families in need, so we got to the program 15 minutes late . . .of course.  Luckily, I have patient children who generally don't get annoyed when I show up late often.  After running into the school (which is actually a church) and quickly guiding him up to the stage, I sat down and noticed his shirt wasn't tucked in, his vest was wrinkled up and his tie was twisted.  Haha!  He still looked cute singing his Christmas songs for us (he's on the far right of the picture).

Logan is VERY excited about Christmas this year!  5-year-olds are so much fun because they believe in Santa but also understand the concept of Christmas.  He has been counting down the days since there was still 35 days until Christmas day.

Because of a lack of volunteers, I ended up doing much of the coaching for Logan's soccer team this past fall.  A few of us moms teamed up to help the boys learn the basics of soccer.  On picture day, they pressured me into getting into the picture, even though I hadn't gotten ready that day.

Logan started writing notes to everyone several months ago.  They started off pretty simple like the ones below.  The arrow means "you."

Then the notes started to be a little more complex, such as the one below.  The arrow became a "u" and he would add extra words, such as "forever."  His "R" became our favorite letter because it often took up most of the page!

"Brynlie, I love you.  You are very nice.  You are a great sister.  Logan."

The next few notes have a story behind them.  Logan had gotten in trouble one day and wasn't happy with me.  He wrote me this note that says, "Mom, no love.  Logan" to let me know he was not loving me.  I literally had to duck behind the kitchen counters so he wouldn't see me giggling.  A few minutes later he wrote me the next note that says, "Mom, I'm sorry. Logan."  I told him thank you for apologizing, but that I was still disappointed in his choice.  He quickly left the room and wrote the third note that says, "Mom doesn't love me."  By that point I couldn't contain myself and busted up laughing.  Silly boy.

Logan wrote this letter while at preschool last week.  We sent it in the mail, but I took a picture of the letter first.  It says, "Dear Grandma and Grandpa, this is Logan.  I read 3 books.  I love you.  Send me a letter.  You're very sweet to me.  Logan."  Then he realized he hadn't stated which grandparents he was writing to, so he added the name "Springer" in blue marker.

I don't think I've ever written about Snickers, the little puppy that is always in Logan's arms.  He has several stuffed animals he sleeps with, but Snickers is definitely his favorite, which is obvious because she is falling apart after being loved to death.
