Double Digits

Let's just take a moment and remember this pink-faced, blond-haired, chubby baby girl who stole my heart 10 years ago.

Lindsey turned 10 exactly one month ago and I'm finally getting a chance to upload some pictures and thoughts.  This girl is a fireball!  I can't imagine how bored and sad we would be without this shiny addition to our family.

Lindsey wakes up at the crack of dawn every morning, excited to start a new day.  As soon as her "on" switch is flipped, she's going until we switch it off.  She's energetic, funny, opinionated, headstrong, determined and brilliant.

I always let the birthday kid chose a restaurant for dinner, but Lindsey asked if I would make a meal instead.  Of course I told her that was fine.  She then requested an entire Thanksgiving meal for her birthday dinner.  Wow, no simple spaghetti for this girl.  I got busy planning the menu and spent 2 days prepping and cooking all the food.  It was delicious but I'm now dreading next month when I have to make it all again!

Chloe came over to play and enjoy the Thanksgiving feast with us.  We actually celebrated Lindsey's birthday on the 16th since Ryan was headed out of town on a business trip.

One of Lindsey's favorite things to do is bake.  She makes a gourmet treat every Sunday, and loves to help me cook during the week.  She was very excited to receive this cupcake maker as a present.  Her favorite gift, though, is an overnight trip to St. Louis with her Mama in December to see the Annie Broadway Musical.

On her actual birthday, I checked Lindsey out of school for a lunch and shopping date.

She chose the perfect outfit for a birthday girl.  Her shirt says "I mustache you for some cupcakes."

Lindsey just finished up her first season of volleyball.  Her team went from being the last in the league to getting 2nd place in the tournament.  She struggled to get her serves over the net, but made some awesome plays in each game by hitting the ball.  She was frustrated that volleyball didn't come easily to her, but I know she can be great if she sticks with it.  She has a lot of athletic ability and Brynlie is trying to convince her that it's very cool to be a volleyball player in Middle School and High School!  Lindsey is also taking a couple dance classes and seems to be a natural like her big sis.

This was Lindsey's typical facial expression during the games, because of her frustration that the sport didn't come naturally to her like so many of them do.  I think it was a great lesson in perseverance!

I just threw this picture in the mix to show the girly side of Lindsey.  She is 10 going on 18.  Any activity that the "big girls" do is right up her alley.

I love you, Lindsey Bean!  Can't believe you're double digits already.

Lindsey is so talented and fun - she is also a great friend to Chloe! Chloe loved celebrating with her and eating a big turkey dinner.
